NCard FAQ

About

The NCard is a gamercard  system intended for consoles that do not already have gamercard ( Wii, DS, PSP). It is dependent on the Giant Bomb API, which is where all of the game information such as boxart comes from.  While the site is designed to be for the wii and DS, in theory you can put any game you like in your gamer card. When it is publicly  launched  there will be  some PSP specific templates that PSP users can use for their backgrounds.

Templates

Templates are ordinary 300×135 png images.  The system overlays the transparency and white text.  We are planning on having a greater selection of user submitted templates in the future.

Updating the card

At the moment card updates are done manually. This is not however, a labor intensive process. It involves going to the webpage and clicking on the name of the game last played. This will update the card  with that  game as the largest and first image.  The recommended way on the Wii and DS is to set it to keep the user logged in on the console’s web browser and add it as a favorite.  A user could update their card with 2-3 clicks.

Auto updating the card

There is an API to auto update the card. When it is released, a homebrew developer on the Wii, DS or PSP could read the last games played since the last sync and automatically like Xbox and PS3 gamercards.

Friend codes

Support for friend codes in both the card and the user profile is in development and will be added in the future.  Someone would be able to click on our profile and see all of your Wii and DS games and friend codes.

Privacy Settings

While the point of gamercards is to share information, we recognize that people might want to keep some things private. There is an option to turn on privacy in the user’s settings page. This will make the gamercard blank and block anyone from seeing the user’s  profile.
