Penny arcade, GAF and Killzone 2

So this comic from penny arcade  was posted on GAF today.  Somewhere society has gotten to the point where many people don’t get the reference. It is only the most popular book and story in human history.

I don’t get it. I kind of know what is supposed to be, at least the third panel is opening the sea of 3RL 360′s, but I don’t get the relation between the panels.
